Changed Coil, Points And Condensor, Cap, Rotor, Wires, Plugs, Fresh Battery, Any Suggestions?
You go, dude! You're doing everything right- nearby is on open circuit somewhere to do this- I know VW's and this guess may be remote, but check for or install a grounding strap from engine stud to solid part of chassis. The lights, etc may work, but if the engine is out of the loop, there's no step.
As a quick check, hook up your ignition to a separate 12V source, and try a start that way.
This is a plain aged points-and-condenser system, and it sounds like you've changed everything. A couple of possibilities: one is that you've installed a defective piece, say the condenser, which happen occasionally. Another is that you've got a broken connecting rope inside the distributor or somewhere.
You'll just enjoy to be systematic about it. Make sure that there's voltage across the primary of the coil when the points are closed. If not, find out where on earth the bad nouns is. When you open the points, the voltage across the coil primary (those little screws) should drop to nothing.
Once you've got voltage to the coil, crank the engine to engineer sure that the points are actually crack and closing. Then check for spark at the coil's secondary (the sticky spark-plug wire). If there's no spark or other sign of high voltage, any the condenser or coil is bad. Otherwise, chase the problem through the distributor (are the wires connected properly?) and to the plugs.
It shouldn't be that frozen to do.
Answers: Ohhhh ! C`mon ! Simplest system in the world. Make sure coil have power to + side of coil with knob on and during crank. If you recently changed the starter , likelihood are you have the crank bypass lead for ignition on the wrong side of the solenoid. Also check the fuses for ignition under race. As long as you have 12 v to the coil while cranking , and the point aperture is set properly , and the rotor is turning , You should have spark.
