1979 Dodge tranny problem, no reverse.?

I just get a 1979 Dodge 1 ton cube truck and the auto transmission doesn't approaching to work in reverse. In the short distance i drove it I have to maneuver in a tight spot and a few times when I shifted to reverse it newly revved the engine and didn't move. I shifted to drive and back and it would work but it have a delay since grabbing reverse gear. Each time I used reverse it seem like zilch was near and you had to skulk before you could touch the gas. I tried looking online and be seeing things like discouraging clutch packs/drums. Would this be an easy fix or would the tranny require a total redo?

Please give a hand, single womanly requirements...

Answers:    If it's only doing it within reverse I would attempt a filter change and see the counterattack. You say it purely hesitates but hits the gear so I would attempt the filter adaptation. Wait... If it needed a filter I think it should suspend in adjectives gears.... Other than linkage and filter change proper someone would enjoy to open it...

Automobile?

Do approaching the other person said and if that doesn't work try ajusting the band in the tranny DONT shift crazy though or you can screw it all up,it's a 79 so at your local unwanted items yard they run around $100 trust me i know. It's more later likely a torque flight tranny.
