1992 Chevy Lumina: Airplane noise, pulling, smell rubber burning?

I drive a 1992 Chevy Lumina APV, minivan. Yesterday it started sounding like an airplane. That is the only instrument to describe it. It did it most when pushing on the gas. Today the noise is a little louder, and when I push on the gas it feel like something is trying to pull it posterior. Pressure. There is also a faint smell of rubber burning. It is not overheating, and there is satisfactory oil, and anti-freeze. What do you think is wrong? Is it not detrimental to drive this way?
