I took my car to a Ford dealership because I was have some issues with it. They told me that the thermostat was leak and I also needed a coolant flush. I didn't get the work done because I wanted a second evaluation so I took it to a local mechanic (don't know much about them) they work on all types of cars. This mechanic is dictum that it is the water pump that's leaking and NOT the thermostat. NOW, I don't know who is right and whose wrong. I don't own time or money for a 3rd opinion. I want to lean more towards the Ford dealership since that their specialty, but I know they maybe trying to pinch advantage of me (I'm also a female). Both mechanics are saying that I entail to get something done ASAP, but I can't intill I know whose right. Any suggestions?
I'd take it to the hawker if I was you. A thermostat and coolant flush are much less expensive and if that doesn't thieve care of your issue then the vendor usually will stand behind their diagnosis and do what they can to correct it. Hope that helps.

The water pump and the thermostat are located surrounded by two places the pump is on the front of the engine which would be close to the right front fender and the thermostat is located on the top front of the engine probably at the end of the top radiator hose so knowing this look at the car your self and see where on earth the fluid is leaking out drive the car and park it some where on earth that is reasonably verbs then let it sit and after a while move the coup¨¦ back and look on the ground then see where on earth the fluid is at in reference to your sports car ,,, you might even call around and see if there is a place that will administer you a free estimate lots of luck!!

By what you describe, I'm assuming yours is equipped with the 2.0 Zetec DOHC engine (eighth digit of your VIN should be '3'), since this is a common problem near those engines. However, let's just clarify that it is the plastic thermostat housing itself, that is leak coolant. That is what is common on those particular engines. They should NOT be charging you for a coolant flush though. This is due to the reality that replacing the said part would require draining and filling the cooling system anyway. The total cost for this unusual repair should be for 3 parts in total. That would be the two parts of the thermostat housing and the thermostat itself. There should also be a 4 litre jug of coolant charged (or 1 gallon for you 'mericans). Lastly, near should be 1.5 to 2 hours of labour charged. Any more than that, and you are being taken for a ride. I go wrong to see how the local mechanic is telling you it's the water pump, when the two components are on in front of sides of the engine. I have very from time to time, heard of water pumps leak on these cars. Hope this helps.

In your case, it is better just steep up the coolant tank with river than to use the expensive coolant until you find a respectable machinic to fix your car. And bring more water beside you in case the container runs dry. You are right that no reason to have two different diagnostic results. If they do what they think is the answer and it doesn't fix your problem you can contact Ford's regional people. Actually, they will contact you after the repairs are done.
