So here it is.. 2 months ago the brake & battery table lamp started to come on dimly... then after a week or so the sports car started dying while idling. I replaced the mobile and terminals next to no fix... so I took it to a shop & they informed me the alternator was puting out smaller amount then 12 volts. So I have them replace the alt. they put in a rebuild alt & it seemed ok... the cars mobile meter would read 13.5 volts after starting then after driving for for a time bit it would drop to 12.5 volts while idling after back up to 13.5 while cruising. merely last darkness once I got to work... the brake battery& grease light come on bright & the car died out.. I notice the battery meter be reading under 12 again. Now it continues to die when idleing resembling before. did the alt die surrounded by just 2 months? Also almost an hour befor I went to work I have to disconnect the battery becuase my girlfriend set rotten the car alarm and it wouldn't turn bad... but I reconected it (tight) unsur if that cld do n e ting help?
Answers: First of adjectives, the 3000gt is a pretty complex car. I worked at a Mitsu contractor for a couple years and if I had a nickel for everytime someone brought one contained by that "their" mechanic couldn't fix, I would have a fistful of nickels.
Recharge the battery-operated
I recommend first to try an idle relearn:
- Turn stale all loads. blower, ac, steam, radio, wipers, etc...
- Turn off vehicle
- Disconnect battery for 20-30 minutes
- Reconnect freestyle
DO NOT TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL!
- Start car beside all loads past its sell-by date. Do not hit the gas
- Let car run for 15-20 minutes lacking touching anything. Windows, steering wheel, radio, gas pedal etc...
- Turn motor off
The decline relearn has be done.
If this does not correct the problem, I HIGHLY recommend taking the car to the supplier and coming off of the couple hours diag time.
Take it support to where they put on the rebuild alternator because it has gone doomed to failure again>
