It's hard to answer minus more details, but a ram air usually have a tube or something in that matter to where on earth wind will be forced in as you drive. Like on the Trans-am it is located on the hood and nouns goes through the nostrils. Cold air is practically duplicate, withour the aftermarket tubing running underneath the front bumper or in the hood.

Answers:    A Short Ram Intake (SRI) is a simple pipe with a filter element that replaces the stock intake tubing and airbox. It is usually depart in the engine compartment and the horsepower gains are usually small due to the certainty that it is getting the hot air under the hood. On a turbo saloon this is usually not an issue since the hot air gets run through an intercooler earlier reaching the engine. The shorter intake pipe length usually provides better response and low end torque, even if the top end power is severely compromised.

A Cold Air Intake (CAI) is unanimously accepeted as the ideal type for a naturally aspirated coup¨¦. The longer pipe length generally means the power and torque gain are limited to the mid-high rpm range, but this is fine since i.e. where races filch place anyways. Having the filter element mounted outside the engine bay or surrounded by a protective heat shielded box (usually behind the headlight) tend to offer FAR superior gains compared to a SRI. If you're shopping, spend the extra and take a CAI. Hope this helps.
