I recently purchased a camaro beside a 406 ci small block motor mods that i know of include: headers, full flowmaster exhaust system, msd plug wires, holley 650 cfm carb., and tranny cooler. There are others but i've gone blank right now. My query is could someone please give me an impression of how much horsepower and ft/lb of torque this might posses. At least how much if within were no mods, what would the stock hp/torque be for this 406. Thank you for your comfort.
Answers: I have a T-bucket near a 406 in it near 2 holley 650's on an old edelbrock tunnel run into, roller rockers, balanced etc. I don't know this for a reality but I was told it be about 500hp as set up.
The human being that built it is a proffessional and used two of the same set-up on a tractor within the tractor pull circuit for 1000 hp.
Safe bet would be at smallest 500-550 hp but could be much higher. Nelson Racing Engines (Hot Rod Magazine) only did a 406 ci small black Chevy that runs 1000 hp on 91 octane and 1500 hp on racing fuel. You may want to research more into the mods done to that expert engine.
