I got in my coup¨¦ last night and run the hot air blowers and after about 5 minutes within was a terrible sickly smell and I notice I had actually vanished the a/c button pressed down. Have I done any damage?
No you enjoy done no damage to it. If the air-con has be switched of for some time and you then switch it on there can be an strange smell for a bit.
