I loaned my dad my SUV to go out of state with. I'm using his saloon until he gets back. I notice when you first put the car into drive, the steering is stiff. But what worries me most is when I'm driving the car, I can perceive something grinding under my feet. It also other wants to go to the right. I hold to struggle to keep the car stright. The saloon also smells strange after I drive it. One of the fluids in the car I believe is cause the smell, It smells hot. The car's been like this seance I've be driving it.
What do you think may be wrong with his vehicle? Is it more than one problem?
Sounds like more than one problem. If you're have to struggle to keep the car straight, sounds approaching it's an alignment and balance problem with the wheel. As for the smell, do you notice the temperature assess going up? Is it too hot?
As for the grinding noise...that's hard to digit out withtout looking at the car.does the grinding happen adjectives the time or only above a certain speed? If it's with the sole purpose above a certain speed, it could be related to the wheel alignment.
the grinding sounds similar to a wheel bearing problem, and within might be more then one issue on the car. when driving turn disappeared and right down a dead street and if the sound get louder when turning a certain way its the bearing. the burning smell could be anything from a plastic bag on the exhaust to the car not running well-mannered, or one of the engine fluids is dripping the the exhaust making the smell.
you own a steering fluid leak and needs to be fixed as soon as you can. first check the fluid contained by the resevior located on the passenger side of the engine compartment check to see if there is any fluid in it. if here is get a couple of bottles of steering fluid from local store with automotive part and you will have to keep totalling fluid until you get it fixed, if you let the fluid run completly out most likly the pump will requisition and add more costly repairs. if this does happen dont verbs you will still be able to steer the car but it will be difficult the slower you are moving, but buy that point you might as in good health pull over and shut the engine off because you will eventually bring to a close up wearing out the belt and breaking it then you will have lately open a new can of worms because this motor has a serpintine belt that runs most things on the engine. hope this helps. :)
ihave a make the addition of on the other thing that might be wrong could be the halfshaft (drive shaft) which is on both sides of the car to turn your wheel, if the car is pulling to the right most likely it is the right side halfshaft wich would lead to the pulling to the right, and as far as the smell all of the grease has come out of the halfshaft and is burning on the exhaust pipe. thats why you other smell something burnig and hot, may want to get that replaced asap, known to make happen wrecks when it seizes up.
Could be 1 of 2 things #1 your wheel position is toast and moving the wheel and the brake rotor causing grill from the bearing and your brakes ,smelly.#2 your brake caliper is stuck and it took out your wheel attitude and rotor from the heat. : ( $180+.
