Hi, The electric driver's seat of my 2002 Saab 9-3 Convertible has suddenly stopped moving (in any direction) although the passenger form still works fine. I thought it might be the fuse but even after switching them over, there was no difference (and the passenger form still worked). Having taken it to the garage they said that it was something to do with the control part which controls the motor to the seat- and want to charge me a lot for it. Can anyone tell me if this is correct (as I thought this would also power the passenger form which is ok)as I don't want to get ripped off. Could near be another problem? What is the correct name of this control unit and can anyone suggest a cheaper place to acquire one second hand?? Many thanks and serious replies singular please.
Yes this module is almost 900.00 dollars without installation. Here is what to do that may win you by. With the key in the "on" position disconnect the power form module connector (large white connector) and then plug it back surrounded by. Check the operation of the seat. If it works then adjust the form to where you want it and leave it be. If it doesn't consequently try tapping the module lightly next to a screwdriver and then try again. If it still doesn't work then try disconnecting a couple more times. Note if you are not repeatedly inclined have someone who is perform this. You do not want to break that connector. If you unseal the driver side door and look underneath the front of the seat you will see the "black box module that I am speaking about.
Loose some weight, It works wonders. Sorry after 5-30 left adjectives serious answers at office
EDIT
If that's no good. Theres a Saab specialist call jamsaab in south of England . they have a pattern site give them a try
It could be a bad form switch or a control unit. I'd pull the form out and flip it over to make sure you don't have a flex pulling out of a connector or a loose connector, they really stretch those seat harnesses tight.
Answers: Try checking for voltage at the switch on the seat (or wherever the actual switch is located that you use to move the seat) If it have power, check for continuity through the switch itself... If it's not the switch, it's probly the motor... But to be honest, I thought people that bought cars like that know they were gonna get ripped sour at the shop...
