I own a Ford F150 next to a 4.2 6 cylinder .It have a k&n nouns intake system on it.?

I would like to know what the advantage of this system if any. It seem with the exposed filter it gets smaller quantity forced air into the engine. It looks like the stock set up would distribute a more drect airflow.I live in the White Mountains in N.H. and this truck seem to be starving for air going up these hill, once on lower levels it runs fine. I saw a stock air intake on ebay from a 2002 4.6, is it or others interchangeable? Thanks for any give support to, and if FordGirl is out there your answers are usually right on the money.

The dub of the appliance?

K&N filter have never really been a product to engineer a big improvement in horsepower. Their filter are simply designed to catch more dirt & you can reuse them. Many vehicles loose power at complex elevations. It's a thin nouns issue. Vehicles w/ turbos & superchargers do better in higher altitudes because the heavens is forced into the engine. I really don't think putting back the stock filter box would clear a difference in hp. You can certainly try because at this point, you've get nothing to loose. G'luck.

Motor swap?

Answers:    The K&N filter IS less restrictive than the inspired equipment paper disposable filter, but it is NOT a lifetime maintenance free filter. You still involve to wash and re-oil the K&N filter every so often, to insure it continues to function properly. I do the one within my car once a year, which works out to around 12,000 miles.
