My 04 Jeep Cherokee check engine light came on this morning. I be warming up the car for going on for 15 minutes, and upon my getting into the car to leave, notice the light.
It has 69,000 miles on it as of today, and I have the oil changed about 3 weeks ago. I checked the gas sunhat and it was on properly.
Is this a ploy by the manufacturer to obtain me to the dealer around 70,000 miles? Or is there an actual problem?
It is probably the gas cap. It may have a crack within the rubber seal. If its not the gas cap here is probably an EVAP leak. It happens to Jeeps adjectives the time
take your jeep to auto zone and have it checked out for free, it might be a o2 sensor or something simple. by the night light being on, theres a problem somewhere.
stop at any Auto Zone Store. for a free OBD scanning.
and bring that code to here(web site) I will guide You within the next step.
I don't believe it will be a big deal, low coolant stratum or so,but is better to know for sure.

Answers: i hear stories of certain jeep models involved in the ploy to allow the pallid to come on at around 70,000. not sure if this is a ploy or not, But , I would suggest that you reset your system by entirely disconnecting the battery.. then reconnect it ... If the night light comes back on soon- then own the code read by autozone or your local auto store- they usually do this for free.
the code will indicate which system is faulty and allow a quicker diagnosis as per sensors that may be affected. i hope this help
