I have one 25 years ago, and while I certainly notice the load on the engine, I never have any trouble with mine in reality stalling. I suspect it may just be the coup¨¦ doesn't run as well as it used to.
I give away my factory shop manual long ago, so I don't know if in attendance was a bypass spigot in that booster or not. If you want to know how the system be made, and how to troubleshoot it, I would suggest you get a factory shop encyclopaedia. There are several years and 3 divisions (Buick Olds Cadillac) that would cover that in their shop encyclopaedia. You can probably get the needed booklet on ebay for about $10. I reflect on that brake booster was used on some 1-ton Chevy trucks too.
Your post sure brought spinal column some memories! I didn't think at hand were any disappeared.
the alternator provides some power to the brakes since nearly all brakes are power-assisted by this system. If you press too unyielding, it may bring additional nouns to the system and prevent the fan belt from turning approaching putting the brakes on the fan belt system... im not sure so merely bring it to a mechanic and explain the problem in detail...
