The Car Won't Start Unless You Turn The Distributer.Once You Get It Started You Can Turn It Off And Still Start The Car but If You Let It Sit For Any Length Of Time It Won't Start Again. I Also Put A Timing Light To It And Timed It So Thats Not The Problem.
Answers: I'm not sure what you mean by the distributer. You mean the slice that all the wires to the sparkplugs come out of (and the wire from coil gies into)? And as you would expect "distruibuter' is the correct name!! But there are with the sole purpose about a couope things that could be affecrted by turning the whole disributer assembly put money on and forth,--- as for "around" I don't know if there is enough clearance to turn it around a full 360 degree without hitting something! And of course at hand is a wiring connection that comes out of the distributer itself, - and this would wrap up around the basis of distributer housing if you didn't unplug it , and plug it back in again after finished turning! Now in that is an exception, and that is that there are a few engines that hold the "inductors" behind the front crank balancer, and pulses to ignition are sensed from there! Then on this one, it might hold no wires coming out other than the ones on the cap!
Anyway, if you enjoy the sensor inside the distributer below the rotor, -- when you move it, - you are also moving the wires, -- check wires out by tugging lightly and wiggling them to see if the engine next starts without "turning the distributer"-- with engine running, (being thrifty about fan & moving parts, "and avoiding close contact beside ignition wires to plugs")-- wigggling may make the engine stop also! If wires "metal fatigued" and broken,- or plug connecting to wiring loom is making discouraging connection! Is the "securing clamp tight, -- (do you have to loosen it or it is loose plenty that it turns with pressure applied)! --- If it is loose enough, it might not be grounding ably!
