My Dad's Micra will not start, petrol...

Answers:    Definatley ADD the Fluid Until it read Full, , Just being low on the Fluid may inflict a slippage-, most often within reverse first for older American cars...
The longer you drive next to LOW or OLDfluid, is when damage occur, also be sure your radiator is full and working properly, If you are over heating or hold overheated the engine - you have most potential overheated the transmission because the fluid cools through the radiator also(on most vehicles)with automatic transmissions.
A Radiator service will be the best service to perform- This should be replacing filter - gasket and Fluid- The condition of the fluid will determine IF a torque converter Flush is needed.
Alternatively- you can supply a trans medic or trans additive that Will assist with slippage problems, Various brands are on the market- Lucas grease brand is a good one, and would be my choice- but look at a few and be paid your own decision...*

You probably hold overdrive- If this happens surrounded by OD at the 40 to 45 MPH speeds, there is a conventional ammount of bounce from OD to Drive in elder trans, Future Overdrive service may be needed but certain additives or a trans service will facilitate...

Do Not ADD brake fluid to the trans. many OLD Used saloon places Did this- It will help by EXPANDING seal and Clutch parts but deteriorates quickly,

If you enjoy had a Trans service lately or transmission work- near is a connector on the transmission as a Shift control machinery etc. If this is Not connected- the same type of complaints arise, so If a Refill and/or stabilizer do not help- take it to a reputable garage , for inspection! Thanks, I hope this info. Helps,

1994 s-10 blazer problem?

Sounds similar to the damage is already done. One of the clutches within the transmission is gone. Time for a rebuild. Take it to a transmission shop and consent to them diag it.
