So I have a 97 ford escort specifically leaking coolant from the transaxle, I call my mechanic and he says it could be a freeze plug or a cracked block. I hold a Chilton and a Haynes and NEITHER give polite information about where on earth the freeze plugs are located or how many within are. He said he would have to remove the transaxle which would be $400 +tax and parts. I own never done this before and I dont know anyone else who have. Does anyone have an model if this is a cracked block or a freeze plug, and if it was a freeze plug where on earth is it located? I found one that is on the final center of the block but that one looks fine.
Answers: Check the oil if you see white residue on it the leader may have a blown gasket, Freeze plugs one on both ends of go before and 2-3 in the block you found one immediately you know what to look for , hope this helps.
