I have a 98 Mercury Sable and be told needed my bearings recased previously it ruins the alternator...would it be cheaper and easier to get a different alternater or are these 2 seperate componants

Make sure the belt is in polite condition and if it does not have a automatic belt tensioner product sure the belt is not over tightened, one cause of premature deportment failure.
