alright i was told i need to run a rope from my alternator to my battery directly because it keeps shorting out, what is this cable called and how much does it cost?
It's most likely 6 gage wire. Also purchase the appropriate telecommunication ends & solder them on. It will cost under 10 bucks.

if there is a nut terminal on the vertebrae of the alternator that has the (bat) symble printed by it. thats the place to run a 12 or 10 guge wire from. however, if its shorting out for some out of the ordinary reason, and has its own electrical system harness. take it somewhere and have it looked at. if the voltage regulator within the alternator is shorting out. it could cause a fire, and burn up the vehicle. dodge had this problem next to a positive connection a few years back.
I don't know what the question was. what's shorting out? yes you can kick, but you still haven't repaired the problem. buy a repair manual and fix it correctly. it's possible you'll just lead to more problems.

Answers: Just FYI, the wires do not run to your battery... the alternator and freestyle circuit almost always meets at the starter (alt to starter / batt to starter) at least possible the heavier gauge wire (fatter one). The exciter circuit (smaller wires) usually run to the any the regulator, or the ECU.
If they meant the charging wire (fat one) next it's fairly simple to handle... approaching the other guys said... usually a 6 gauge wire... runs from alt to starter. Clean them adjectives up really good... it's always a honest idea. And yes... around $10 USD.
Don't just "jump" anything... if you're replacing the cable that's one thing, but make undisputed your pulling off the old stuff, DO NOT simply abandon a live circuit in your saloon.
Good Luck!

i ruminate they are talking about that cumbersome wire on the alternator. if your going to run a wire, put a fuseable connection between the wire, in casing if it shorts out, then it wont feed support into your alternator.I don't know what the question was. what's shorting out? yes you can kick, but you still haven't repaired the problem. buy a repair manual and fix it correctly. it's possible you'll just lead to more problems.

You should fix what you got instead of running more wires. If your wire is shorted out that routine your load is being bypassed and usually results surrounded by damage to the source (battery or alternator). You need to find the problem but taking it to a mechanic so he can do the proper voltage drop checks would be the best theory. He should be able to pin point the trouble area beside voltage drop checks in about 15 minutes if he know what he is doing. The he can take the problem wire(s) out and put the new wire(s) contained by.Good luck!
