Hey car gurus. I hold a peice of junk vehicle that I don't really care something like. So FIRST OF ALL. I am not concerned about the "right way" to do this. I adjectives ready know what that is to say. I am only looking for a cheap fix here.
Situation: This motor had a punctured condenser coil. I found another one at the unwanted items yard and replaced it. Now I am going to charge the system near oil and 134a. So far so obedient. I have adjectives the tools and minimal knowledge to do adjectives of the above. The only entity missing to doing this is pulling a vacuum on the system first. My question is this: I do NOT want to purloin it in and remuneration to have this done. Is near a way to 'somewhat' do this my self?
I.E. Can I freshly dump a can of refrigerent in in attendance and let it out the other close until I purge out all of the heavens? Or anything like that? Can I hook up my ac gagues and suck out the heavens with my mouth? (eeew gross..hehe) Or will it ever create any difference what so ever if I vacuum a car's AC system before I charge it? WIll it hurt to skip?
Answers: Well if you are by design inclined enough to formulate a soilder joint I contemplate i can help. First tolerate me say that you should not mix refrigerants, secondly if your feeble condensor had a hole you will want to add grease, Peg oil you can purchase at any auto parts store next to the freon.
OK, find an old cast-offs refrigerator, you will need to remove the compressor, cut the queue off the compressor far satisfactory that you have room to work beside them,
You will also have to cut the electrical wires from it.
Now, whip the power cord and attach it to the compressor and use the ground wire too.
Plug within the compressor and see which tube is sucking, this is the tube that you will need to soilder a shrader stopcock to. This would be the same style of tap that you hook your freon can up to on the car.
Once you own soildered that on the compressor you will need to hook up you refrigerant guages one hose from the mature refrigerator compressor to the guage block the other off the compute block to the low pressure side on the car.
Open the tap on the guages so that the compressor can start vaccuming out the system. Plug in the aged fridge motor and let it run util the guages read -20 vaccum, roughly speaking 1-3 hours. then close the tap on the gauges beside the fridge motor still running, then unplug the fridge motor.
Now you are organized to add the grease and freon. Start the cat and turn the AC on High and then include the oil first, next start adding the freon, should hold something like 3.0 lbs
If you're not ready to do adjectives this find a buddy with a vaccum appliance and ask him to vaccum the system down.
Sorry there is no other route. The vacuun thst the A/C tech puts on your A/C system is to ensure that no moisture stays in the lines.
