I have an elderly truck that I enjoy working on myself (it be my grandfathers). I have some dents that I own been working on and the ability is getting better but is still far from supreme. When I apply primer and wetsand it down and all that moral stuff, I can still tell the spots I added filler. You can't see it by looking straight at it but by holding a lighting just the right agency its still visible. I don't know what I am doing wrong. The filler is without blemish level near the panels but still not without a flaw invisible. Any advice?
Answers: You are not doing anything wrong. You simply need to do more priming and drizzling sanding to gain those imperfections out. You might involve to use some Spot Putty for the deeper marks. It is especially time consuming work. Have patience.
Two question: Can you see the the filler before you showery sand and did you put glazing putty over the filler? Either way you may want to try a glorious build primer with several coats allowing it to dry within between coats and then insubstantially sand with 600 raining paper. The glazing putty will saturate any pin holes in the body filler. Repeat the glazing, sand and respraying until the primer reveals a perfect smooth finish. With some practice this will be smaller amount time consuming.
