Doing an oil change what should I use? What do yoiu recommend??
doesn`t matter what your owners manual recommends.
i would use either a fram oil filter or auto lite and 5w-30 motor grease
Follow the grade recommendation surrounded by the manual. I assume you have a 5.4l because it is the most comon engine roll for the expidition. Don't use synthetic its a waist of money and could dry out the seals causing them to shrink and potentually explanation an oil leak if life oil was used for a prolonged spell of time. Organic oil acts as a trademark sweller to keep the rubber conditioned. Plus its just a waist of money unless their is a specific want for it. Smart money is on changing the oil frequently. singular 30% of your oil actually get filtered the rest bypasses and goes straight fot the motor. A honest filter is recommended. I know the quikie lube places pay like .50C - 1.00$ for their filter mostly chinese I suspect.
In our shop we use Motorcraft brand filters for fords and Delco filters for chevys, mahle for german and swedish cars, and doesn`t matter what for asian stuff.
I would stay away from penzoil products all together. Valvoline, Castrol, napa brand oil I belive is valvoline surrounded by blue bottles. I like castrol. The bottle appeals to me I guess. Run it in adjectives my cars. Also the viscosity is really inportant. I have seen high-speed lube joints put in thicker grease due to higher millage on fords, and it pumps the lifters up to much and dosent allow for bleed of causing valve to hang open, which results within drivability issues/surging. Change the oil and problem goes away. Follow your almanac.
Plus don't use aarco / costco or discount fuel - they use lots of cheap ethenaol and achohol to meat clean air standard. These fuels hold a lower btu content, and from 10 yrs exp doing straight drivability diagnostics, every single car with chronic fuel injection issues, they we using these discount fuels, mianly aarco. I approaching chevron.
Hold on!! There are some questions that need answering.
What year? Newer Ford's pinch 5w20. What engine? 4.6L or 5.4L? Different Oil capacities!
Dipsticks up to 06 are miscalibrated. The crankcase is full in the MIDDLE of the "add/full" nouns of dipstick.
Use 5/30 unless it says on the oil flood cap 5/20.
4.6L=6.0qts. Oil & Filter.
5.4L=6.5qts. Oil & Filter.
ANY name brand grease is the best, they all have their pious & bad, but ultimatley they are ALL good as long as they are Pennz, Valv, Qukr St. etc.

doesn`t matter what your owners manual recommends. If it is elder, use a thicker oil or an oil stabilizer. Generally any open-handed of oil is fine- they all derive from indistinguishable source and accomplish the same task. Fram is a flawless filter.

Answers: grease has been answered as for filter they are graded by MICRON rating. the smaller the micron number the smaller the particles it catch. a 10 micron is a good filter.most likely the best you will find at parts stores. Fram is my personall choice. As for grease I like the synthetics they have really come a long opening and seem to hold up better than organics. AVOID pensylvania crude oil products ie. penzoil the crude from Penn is soaring in sulpher and makes a poor grease.
