Blue Smoke At Startup?

i have a 93 celica and anytime my saloon sits for more than a day minus being started it puffs out this big blue bubble of smoke just for a second tho after it never does it again until it sits longer than a day.... as long as i start it regularly i never see anything but with the sole purpose it sits for about 2 or 3 days... why is this?

If Al Gore won the 2000 see,...

Dear Blue-

It sounds like the coup¨¦ is probably about all set to have the cylinder principal serviced. More than likely the spout guides and seals want servicing and replacement.

Be aware this can be a fairly expensive duty because it is vary labor intensive.

It will require the removal of the cylinder lead from the engine, facing the valves, knurling or replacing the spout guides in the team leader, replacement of the head gasket and adjectives other associated gaskets and seals, and may also require the replacement of some of the engine's intake or exhaust valve.

But before you seize into a cylinder head brief lets try something easier first.

Change the immensity of oil you are using. Go next to a heavier oil resembling 15w-40, 15w-50 or 20w-50. If you are seeing a cloud of smoke after the car sits for a year or so, that also means that it is burning grease.

Since the car is burning grease you are now going to own to be more careful to check the grease level during fuel ups. Letting the grease level within the engine get too low is a moment ago as bad as not shifting the oil.

More than possible the car also does it when you first start it every morning, you may not spy it because the cloud is mixed with steam from the Catalytic Converter heat up. Also it probably produces smoke on deceleration or hard accelleration, but you would not know this any because you are paying attention to your driving.

Here is what I would do.

Start monitoring the grease level within the engine, and the frequency at which you are having to protract the proper oil even. Do this while you are getting gas at the gas station.

Normal burn rate for oil is:

1 quart to 75 gallons of fuel. Basically 1 quart between grease changes, (3000 miles or 90 days). On elder engines I would expect this to increase to about 2 quarts base on milage and how the vehicle is driven.

Anything over 2 quarts per oil relocate is too much, and the engine may be in requirement of serious service to include a complete overhaul of the pistons, rings, bearings, and cylinder cranium. So if this becomes the skin be prepared to spend a sizeable chunk of change.

This is regularly the death of a coup¨¦ at this point. My rule of thumb is: If the repairs cost more than the Blue Book of the vehicle, its time for a new motor or a car i.e. in better power-driven condition.

I hope that helps you out. Good Luck!

My coup¨¦ is a 2000 Chevy Trailblazer...

Valve seals.
Warning if you enjoy the head rebuild it will not smoke for a little while but very soon with more compression you will wear out the rings and it will be posterior to smoking.
If you really love the car newly have the engine rebuild.

Do you have a sneaking suspicion that...

Answers:    I own the same trouble next to my truck, we need to hold the >>Valve Guides Replaced<<, it has to do next to Oil seeping into the the combustion chamber,-Spark plugg...not a BIG promise but it will get worse over time..."prehistoric worn engine" i found that add (LUCAS OIL HELP) every grease change have cut the amount of Blus smoke considerably, and sometimes it wont even puff at all, of late keep your Oil changed fresh, and generate sure it is full.

Best wishes
