What happened was i changed my alternator on my 98 maximum and i had broken the sensor or whatever it is that plugs into the alternator. So i go to the dealers and bought a knew one but my battery-operated and brake light are still on. I checked the volts and it said are 14 point something so i take it thats apposite, im getting enough voltage from the alternator to charge the battery. I only dont know why those two lights are on..
I am have the same problem on my 97 Sentra. Same two lights keep coming on so I shut down the sports car, restart and they go off/stay off till the subsequent time. I don't know either but at least we can be confused together lol. I'm waiting for an answer too!
Answers: one of the wires on the connector, does not have a good nouns. the system still thinks and is telling the ecm that the alternator is not putting out liquid. make sure to check the battery, and body, and engine block grounds.

usually what i do if i hold any electrical problems is to remove the battery cable and put it back on after a couple minutes this usually let the cars computer restart.not sure if this helps but it works for me most of the time.1983 mercedes 300d turbo diesel lacks bootom...
