my power window regulator is broken my friend said it is the chain and does any one know how much this cost to fix it and where any places will do it?? i live within california

If by "Wire" he funds an electrical wire, it is usually a technically simple fix... although it can be awkward to access them sometimes. Just solder in a unmarked piece where the break is and engender sure the slack isn't in the process of anything that moves.
I'm guessing he means the cable contained by the regulator that pulls the window up or down depending on which means of access the motor is turning. This requires a whole spanking new regulator, as regulators are generally non-serviceable. If you are not confident surrounded by your abilities to replace it yourself (some of them are really difficult) later I would recommend calling a reputable glass shop that specializes contained by auto glass.
