Car starter?

i have a 1999 pontic grandam 2.4 liter. I was starting it the other sunshine and it stalled out while trying to start it. I went to re start it and it won't start. I here the starter spinning when i turn the key, but the engine doesn't turn over at adjectives. Is it the starter not engaging or could it be something else could it be a siezed engine, I know the battery is fitting so thats not it, does anybody have any ideas

Answers: Yeah if the starter is spinning , on the aged cars the bendex spring (throw out spring) is not popping the starter gear into the flywheel to crank the motor.

maybe a bad starter / spring or the mobile is too low to kick it out. (btw if the horn blows loud, then the mobile is fine)
