The permanent status DRL, is referring to the Daytime Running Lights, as for the ALC, not sure on that one.

More than likely the module that controls the Daytime Running Lights is malfunctioning or near is a headlight that is burned out.

My 1996 S-10 have Daytime Running Lights on it, and if a headlight burned out my "Maint. Reqd." light would appear on my dashboard.

If I have to guess what the other is, I would probably call it the Automatic Light Curcuit, mortal that you stated the lights are supposed to come on automatically when it get darkened.

In which case, this lead me back to the Daytime Running Light Module which controls the circuit for this equipment on your Mom's vehicle.

So, check the headlights to see if one is burned out. Both brights and low beam, then check your turn indicators, brake lamp to see that all lights are functioning properly. This includes Fog Lights if your vehicle is equipped.

If adjectives of the lights are functioning, then its the control module that I mentioned for the Daytime Running Lights.

I hope that help you out. Good Luck!

The DLC is the Data Link Connector. It is the little connector where you connect a scan tool. If you appropriate it up to either Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts they will hook up a scan tool for free to see specifically why the frothy was coming on. To meet head-on why the light does not come on, do they feathery up when she starts the car? If they don't next the problem lies in the circuit itself. Now the service instruction book was referring to the DLC it be pointing you to the point in the sports car where you can search out the TC's, or trouble codes. On some cars you can buy an inexpensive key-looking thing that you ground two terminal together with at the DLC and after it will blink the trouble codes. But again consult your service manual for the precise procedures to get hold of the trouble codes.
