Car trouble?

i have a 1990 pontiac splendid am for a while i thought i was merely having problems near the battery so i replaced it only just 2day. the car be fine today then i notice when i drove homw f/ work the car be vibrating/shaking and when i would press on the break & gas the car would joggle and then -luckliy-the motor just died surrounded by front of my house and i can restart it but when i put it in drive it shakes and next dies. even if it doesnt die i can press on the gas and it doesnt move it just revs. this happend one time b4 and i ruminate a lil smoke came from the sports car too. i know that last time it also jerk and buckled but i put gas in it and later it was ok
i dont reflect on it was uniform now but i know that it made worse noise this time it seems resembling maybe it the engine but i know NOTHING in the order of cars does anyone no what it could be? i mean im going to a machanic anyway but does any of this nouns familar to anyone?

Answers: Could be several things. First have some one check your fuel filter and nouns filter. It sounds like your fuel pump is going out. I use to hold a Grand Prix. It would fall motionless on me at red lights but it turned out to be the fuel pump. Make sure you have nouns fluid in it take home sure that it is all the approach in gear.

Check your fuel filter first, afterwards the fuel pump, then your spark plugs and wires. Also, possibly cleaning your fuel injectors.
