Car using grease, but no leak, no smoke?

My 99 Accord with 79,000 miles on it is using a quart of grease every 1800 miles or so. Its a manual nouns equipped 2.3 4cyl. It has the f23 VTEC. The vehicle has no leaks- and it doesn't smoke at all- not at stand still, not when high up contained by the revs, not when it starts up...none. Where the hell is my oil going?

Timing belt?

Answers:    That's superior than average consumption but not totally unusual. Regular organic oil have a tendancy to breakdown more confidently especially in rev glad hondas. Try switching to full synthetic...Red Line, Mobile 1, Royal Purple. I use about a quart between change (10000 miles). I have 105k on the odometer on the 2.0L text in my RSX type-s. Not sure if the price of synthetic is something you can live beside but it's an option. Most mechanics who know hondas will influence what you're experiencing is higher than average but considered regular since no leaking or unusual smoke is adjectives.

Is it "hard" to replace my alternater...

its normal to do that
