Causes of Engine Rattle and Smoke?

What causes an Engine Rattle in a 1986 Celica?

This is what the guy said:

"runs.. small clank in the motor.. blows some smoke.
also gearbox needs looking at.. crunches contained by 2nd.. usual celica problem nothing to worrie about really"

Can anyone recount me what causes them, I hope it isn't serious because my dad picks at every single little problem, yet he wont provide me the money to get a better car...

Can bigger tires on your vehicle mess...

Are lincoln welders sold at home depot...

in need being able to look at it i would speak that it is a blown head gasket, you should check your oil it is probably low, you should find this fixed as soon as possible and get your oil changed as it is draining look at the color if it is anything bar normal like a whitish color afterwards it was deffinently a blown head gasket as that would explanation engine coolant and oil to mix.

Why won't my ford focus start...sometimes?

Answers:    First the simple diagnosis: the second gear crunching is cause by some munged up second gear synchros. Not a huge expense, and actually a relatively simple fix.

Blows some smoke is a little harder diagnosis. For this, you necessitate to know what color the smoke is. White smoke can mean blown head gasket or a crack contained by the cylinder head or block. Blue smoke is more difficult to diagnose. If it happens on uphill climbs, it's promising the rings. If on clutch braking (going down a hill), it's likely valve seal. Constant blue smoke could be a blown head gasket or a cracked cylinder head or block. Black smoke (and crappy engine deeds and gas mileage) is the engine running too rich. Lossa things can lead to this.

The engine rattle is tougher. A gaping, persistent clunking could mean low grease. Higher pitched chatter could be valves that are out of adjustment - or low oil. Could also be electrical or fuel conferral problems causing a little stutter or disbelief. The rattle might also be related to one of the smoke causing problems.

At any rate, it's not feasible that this car will pass any smog exam in any state. If it's been smoking for a while, AFTER you fix the smoke, you will credible have to replace the oxygen sensor and the catalytic convertor. Unless someone is giving you this car, I would stay away.
