Answers:    Sounds similar to a bearing going bad on the Alternator or something connected to the belt. Or possibly the clutch fan bearing. It does nouns like a bearing going desperate on something. If it's as bad as you say. you might be capable of see which one is bad. It's probably smoking hot. I would take the belt sour after you have driven the truck and while it's still hot. I know it's not easy to do but you stipulation to check bearings while they are hot. Try turning with your fingers (( ALL )) pulley's that run stale of this belt and if you can feel some grinding and scratching. That's the one cause your problem. NOTE: You won't be able to check the AC compressor this way. But... I really don't contemplate it's the AC compressor. They don't fail as much as they used to. Be sure to get another belt after you find and repair your problem.

Don't forget the Tensioner pulley... they can step bad too.

BTW... I have see belts not installed totally in the groves. This could be your problem. I'm not picking on you ... But ... It happens.
