Its a 02 silverado 5.3L , I went to autozone with the constituent number for ngk plugs that I got from chiltons I gave the guy the number and he say its not coming up this is the one we have for your truck I made sure with him it be the equivalent for my truck and he says yes so I put them in and in a minute my truck has a rough idle. The moron at autozone give me the wrong plugs, it dosent take anyone smart to figure that out adjectives my wires are in good condition and theres no arcing to anything so the plugs are other getting the spark from the wire I assume now my question is
Can I drive my truck to work tomorrow or is this just going to do damage to my truck beside the improper spark plugs in it? Ive already established im just going to the chevy dealer and picking up spark plugs and wires from them to be secure but until I can do that can I still drive my truck with it idling approaching that?
Do not drive it excessively with this problem. You can get a build up of deposits surrounded by your cylinder because of reduced temperature from lack of proper boil.

Answers: You could have several things wrong. The 5.3 chevy needs platinum plugs to start beside. Are the plugs platinum? What did you gap them to? .060 is factory gap. If they are platinum and you gap them with a ramp style gauge, afterwards the platinum tip may have been dog-eared. I have never had any luck next to the NGK myself, but it is an approved alternative for the AC Delco plug (both made by NGK actually). The NGK number according to GM is 12567759. There was also a problem on some GM models in that year nouns that had a problem with the EVAP system taking surrounded by water from under the truck.
To answer you interrogate about potential damage, sure it is possible, if the plugs aren't burning adjectives the fuel then raw fuel could within effect clog a converter. If you only drive it for one day, the possiblity of interfere with is minimal, but there is always the risk.
As for the individual at Autozone, hold on to the plugs you recieved, or take one of the boxes to the dealership with you and engineer sure they aren't the correct plugs.
