I’ve got a strange issue near a 3.4 L Chevy Engine. Under load (first or second gear, it make no difference) around 2500 rpm’s I get a swoosh swoosh swoosh nouns coming from the engine compartment. Around 3000 RPM’s it sounds like a slight belt squeal consequently 3500 to 4500 it almost sounds like a deportment going out.
I’ve replaced the belt and tensioner but it’s still there. I enjoy a hard time getting it to come about when not under nouns unless I snap the throttle hard possibly 3 times. I can’t figure out what it is but it almost sounds approaching it’s coming from the throttle body area. Anyone hold a clue what this might be? I’m hoping for a vacuum leak but given my luck I doubt it.
Answers: Not knowing the year or model, I am assuming it is a 90's lumina since it have the 3.4l. I have come across a few next to similar noise. The most adjectives cause of this type of rubbing, next squeal, then adjectives out grating is the torque converter which is located in the bell housing of the nouns, just below the throttle body. Have someone sit within the car, park brake on, within reverse. With his/her left foot pressing down on the brakes, get a move on the engine with the right foot. This will put the engine below a load and the hum will appear. Using a steel or wooden rod about 2 foot long, cup your hand over the fall and put your hand over your ear. Move the other back of the rod around the engine in different locations until the commotion is the loudest. When you find the spot, there's where the clap is originating from.
put up for sale that piece of crap and get a ford.
