Hey guys here it is.
My car (1999 ford Taurus SE) had an issue that while I be idle my car the engine would shake. After intensive carrying out tests with computer diagnostics and mechanics visualizing inspecting the engine they could not find anything wrong. one audition showed that I need it a tune up badly.
So for 605.00 Dollars ( This includes labor & parts )
they did the following.
1) Got me a up to date ignition coil
2) Full tune up
3) They change the entire part where on earth the air filter is located
including some type of sensor which regulates the
power. He basically told me my sports car will not turn off if this
part wasn't adjustment and he even show me the computer
results of the diagnostic.
So my question is ...did i get ripped past its sell-by date?
You got ripped BIG TIME!
If it fixed the idle problem, no.

Answers: It really depends on the parts he changed out.
A tune up isn't much. ($10)
Ignition coils aren't expensive ($80)
if the thing he changed in the atmosphere filter was the MAP sensor, that part can be expensive. (This part of the pack can be very expensive?)
It depends on the price of the parts.
Labor charges should have be about 2 hours - approx $150. He may have also charged for the diagnostic time, depending on how long he worked to numeral out the problem. Typically 1 hours ($75)
The $605 is really not extremely our of line, but again that sensor by the air filter may be the remaining difference within cost.
If it fixed the idle problem, no.
It may be a fair price but to brand yourself feel better have the shop explain exactly what they did how much for parts, how much for labor, and why the work be required. You also need to educate yourself on how a saloon works
