What are the signs of a bad distributor? Chevy p/u 92'. the truck wont start, and the battery seem to be drained all the time. Especially when its cold...
You may just have need of a new battery to carry the truck started.

i have a 93 gmc pu,my dist. became ear-splitting ,making a squeeking sound,also i noticed on my tach that it be fluxuating.i also had replaced my ignition module inside dist. when my truck had starting problem.you could do a optical -opening dist cap and inspecting rotor etc.
i have never see a distributor cause the battery to drain,if you own a quick hard drain it could be your starter going to ground,you may own noticed a differant noise when starting.hold your starter checked.
when my module went out on my truck.it happened over a term of time gradually getting worse until it just would not start. starting cold next warming up and then dieing.cooling sour then starting again.until it just would not start anymore.it is a adjectives problem and a new module is about 25.00 dollars.

Answers: When you take the sunhat off is there condensation inside? does one of the terminal look more worn than the others or is it scorched. Distributor caps are pretty cheap so i would replace it if suspect. They can find these hairline cracks in them that you can't see with out a powerful magnify glass. Try disconnecting your battery cable when your your not using the sports car if it still goes dead later the battery is probably bad if then the alternator isn't putting out enough simply to keep it charged but usually the alternator light will come on if that's the travel case.

Sounds more close to the battery is bad. Take it to a Sears, or local repair center and hold then perform a "load" oral exam on the battery.You may just have need of a new battery to carry the truck started.
