My car is eating up gas, I have a tuneup done recently dat didn't include the replacement of o2 sensors. Anyways, whenever my car is between 50-55mph, it starts to shake and sputter and once it get past 55 its ok. Plus I have to press on the gas a bit more than that's considered normal. I have my catalytic converter checked out and they said I have too much gas in there. Is that due to have bad O2 sensors? What's wrong with my saloon to make it run the way it does? Oh yeah, its a 97 Chevy Monte Carlo 3.1L engine
I would recommend getting a flexibility done on it, If you know someone with a DIY unit it is a unbelievably simple process. You should be getting similar readings for the first sensor as the 2ND if not at hand is a problem. If they have never been changed up to that time, it's not a bad ides to do it anyhow, 10 years is a long time for them.

If the car is running too cool (because proper operating temperature have not been reached) or the computer thinks that it is too cool from a fruitless sensor, then fuel dumps into the exhaust including the cat. Have your computer trouble codes read. O2 sensors go impossible from bad fuel mix as well, purely replacing it does not always fix the cause of the problem. Have engine professionally evaluated.Better but, get a different car since things really go hay-wire

02 sensors are always good to replace. Even if they are not the problem very soon, they do go over time, and slowly make you millage worse and worse beforehand they trip any sensors.
