I was driving quickly, didn't observe a speed bump, and skidded over it at around 15mph. My 1996 standard transmission Nissan Altima stalled out. I tried starting it back up again, and the engine turned over, but it idle and wouldn't rev up past 500rpm. I tried giving it gas and it wouldn't respond to pushing the pedal. Now, it won't turn over, it just keep going, "err, err, err, err, err" when I turn the key. I'm sure there's a better word for that...
Anyone know what might have cause this?
My mechanic thinks that it's the alarm system that's faulty, and he requirements to remove the whole thing. Is he right?

I would find another mechanic. When you hit the speed bump, something may enjoy came unplugged or loose in some means of access. I am assuming that the car was running fine beforehand you hit the bump? If so, then that is most promising the problem.
