Does the 'Check Engine Light' within your GM vehicle ever come on for no adjectives pretext? Why does this come about?

Why do 'check/service engine lights come on for no apparent motivation? And what issues might be going on with the vehicle or engine that are not trouble-free to detect?

My 'check engine' light have gone off within the past because I departed the gas cap loose. Even when rectify this the light would stay on for a few days.

My restrained is on now but everything seem fine. It annoying.

Can it be turned off? Or do I enjoy to wait for it to progress off on its own? And what make it go bad on its own? Does the computer reset or something?

I put 35 litres of unleaded into...

OBD-II code readers that can turn the check engine pallid off until the blemish occurs again are awfully inexpensive for anyone to purchase and use. The stored error codes in your computer can't be smoothly erased from memory. Once the problem has be corrected you have to complete a quantity of "drive cycles" sometimes to eventually clear the stored codes.

Note that "code readers" simply readout and clear the active codes, but you want to buy a more expensive "scanner" to actually display the OBD-II background stream of diagnostic data flowing actual time from the vehicle's computer.
