I have a 1997 nissan sentra and when i open the door typically on the drivers side the dome light doesn't come on. The passenger door does activate teh dome frothy, I tried to wiggle the door jamb switch that isn't working and it appears theres some sort of short, my question is if I replace only the switch do you think this might fix it or would this possibly be a wiring issue. I'm basically curious if i can just switch otu the switches in hopes to fix it because this isn't something ive ever done beforehand
Answers: Unless a lot of wiring have been messed with, it's probably merely the switch.
It wouldn't hurt to try a new switch. On most vehicles, this isn't a exceedingly difficult task. You would remove the old switch, unplug the wires, plug wires to alien switch and install new switch.
Good luck.
