EGR tap wishes to be replaced?

I have a 1993 saturn 1.9 engine . the EGR valve requirements to be replaced . what happen if its not replaced ??.also what damage can come up??

Answers: I take mine off..Yes it somewhat burns more fuel.
But dose not Lean my engine out to get the extra "gas mileage."

You can't just whip them off you have to get a metal cover , bolt it in place over the hole,and seal it near RTV sealant.

The shaking is caused by the valve inside stuck approachable, all the time.Instead of being closed.

The exhaust carbon clogs consequently open inside.

EGR's don't operate at idle or full throttle.
Only within between , like at cruising speeds.

You need it to overhaul emissions test though.
