Engine Clicking Noise after period at speed?

After driving on the motorway (~70mph) for around half an hour, when I slow down (e.g. exiting the motorway) I can hear a clicking clap under the bonnets. The gait of the clicking varies beside the engine revs. After a few minutes driving at a slower speed (~30-40mph) the clicking goes away. Any planning what the clicking could be?

Answers:    Sounds very much approaching tappets or valve clearance to me.Unless it is an expetionaly loud ,sometimes i would counsider this nought to be to alarmed about, especially after a well brought-up run on the motorway, the noise be problably there on the motorway but road jingle & high revs may enjoy disguised it until when you slowed down became more noticable. If it is a tangible concern drop into an auto shop for a more accurate diagnosis, they may be adjustable tappets ,Personaly im not familiar next to that type of car,so cant read out if they are adjustable tappets ,but im guessing they not.You dont state how many klms/miles the car/engine have done ,but notice its an 05 model ,simply a few yrs old! When be the engine oil final changed ? Is it due to be changed? Check the tackiness & colour on the dipstick ,good grease has the apearance of honey & tackiness. Its pious practice to change the engine grease filter at the same time for simply a few dollars more ,.rather than contaminating the trial oil next to old grease in the old-fashioned filter.

I necessitate to replace the hood on...

Tappetts...timing out.
