Engine not getting satisfactory power? PLEASE HELP!?

My car (1990 Firebird) broke down a couple of weeks ago and get fixed by my family mechanic. When I go to go pick it up I drove it and the wet pump started to leak. That get fixed. Now the problem is that the engine does not have ample power, it starts and runs fine but when you step on the gas there is hardly any power. The car have been at my mechanics shop for almost two weeks and they can not numeral out what is wrong with it. They enjoy been doing a ton of test and replacing parts like the good-for-nothing valve and timing secure. They say the engine have no problems. The cars transmission have been checked out by specialists and it is fine. They even took it to a Pontiac dealership for a their professional mechanic to look at it and he could not digit out the problem.

what is going on?
any suggestions help! appreciation.

Answers:    make sure exhaust is not clogged up. any the muffler or catalytic gone bad. to find out if this is it, unhook exhaust at compound and run car. if it does consequently thats the problem

Headlight bulbs?

I would take it to a reputable repair facility that employ ase master technicians, I am sure they can figure it out. It might be the catalytic converter but minus seeing the vehicle, I couldn't say for sure. You can other take the cat bad and go for a theory test drive, if it runs better with it bad and you have power, silver the cat.
