I have a 1995 Galant Super Saloon. The problem is, whenever the engine is running and i turn on both the airconditioning and headlights at the same time, the rpm drops, the engine hesitate and eventually stalls and the check engine light comes up. its as if an overload happened. I have my alternator checked though and its charging fine and is capable to support both loads. If my rpm is at around 3000 to 4000 though, when i turn both on, its ok, nothing happen.
your alternator may show charging on test equipment, that does not mean the voltage regulator can fiddle with it under higher electrical loads. my guess is the regulator cut surrounded by is bad.
Answers: 2 things I'd look at. First, the alternator and regulator. I think its one or the other that is not handling the power nouns.
Second, just for kicks, own someone turn the A/C on and off while you watch the A/C compressor and belt. Sometimes the compressor locks up, and I conjure could put enough stress on the belt drive to stall the engine. Have them do this with the lights rotten at first, and then on. Watch the compressor pulley closely, and see if its locking up. This is a long-shot, because usually even with the compressor locked up, the sports car will run, but the belt will be screamin and burnin!

rust air control dirty or not reacting briskly enough. clean or repl.ace going on a whim here, but a A/C system does suck up its far share of power, and consequently throw what close to 250 watts of lighting on to it, it cause alot of stress on the alternator. see the more power applyed to the ALT the hard it is to turn.
Also when you turned on that A/C you also own a A/C Compressor in full mode now
