Answers: start by removing the upper and lower intake manifolds which require removal of the spout covers--i reccomend replacing the v/c gaskets during your repair---also if the spark plug wires are original to the vehicle i would also replace them at the time of repair....you enjoy to remove them to do the repair and if they are old internal breakage can crop up in the wires and you may hold a misfire after putting them back on----also, when removing the push rods for lower gasket R&R>think twice ,they are different lengths and if installed incorrectly can motivation engine damage.short ones are intake and long ones are exhaust......other change the grease after the repair--any stray coolant will wind up surrounded by the oil tub.------those are the tricky parts---have patience and well-mannered luck..........Pizza Anyone?
Wouldn't it be great if you could strike up a conversation with a local GM merchant technician who replaces those gaskets all the time? Would anybody know better than he or she? So I would travel to a local dealer at lunch time and ask which technician have done many intake various jobs. Then buy a rob out pizza and bring it to him.
