Has anyone tried rubber spacers?

I'm thinking about trying rubber spacers contained by the fronts coils of my 2wd to level the front to the rear legs. Has anyone tried it? Did it work good? How long did it final? How was the ride artificial? Where did you get yours? If you answer adjectives 5 questions you seize best answer...

That's a pretty common and cheap approach to raise the altitude on non-strut vehicles.I've used them in the past and was jubilant with the results,it didn't affect the ride unbelievably much. You need to pry the coils apart somewhat to fit them contained by which can be dangerous.I used a hydraulic spreader that comes near a Porter Power kit. They ending forever,I bought them at Murray's auto parts.Don't expect miracles out of them, they will only contribute about an inch of elevation without stiffening the ride too much.

well iahve used rubber spacers, they are not confident to insert! you have to move up the front end so that it picks up the sprints, and the point is you wont be sure if its level since the spacers are so sticky...they work but ar liable to pop out sometimes if it takes a obedient punch.they lasted a while contained by fact the ride be affected...seem to pull to one side harder whin i hit a hole or bump...this is what i would do..........
stir to junk patio get used ones, smaller amount than 20 $ JUST YOU WOULD HAVE TO PROBABLY TAKE THEM OFF..
or instead of the rubber spacers..there is this tool..
they run in between the springs and own bolts on them anyhow it give you the ablilty to elevate or lower the car, and be capable of adjust the height..check withyour local coup¨¦ shop for these things.good luck take heed

Answers:    I've tried it. It does not work well at adjectives because a 360 degree spacer will with the sole purpose raise the spring rate 35 - 45 lbs. The spring rubbers are one and only good for 6 mounths or smaller number. The ride will be very slightly stiffer.
You can take them from either Mr. Gasket Co. or from performancebodies.com underneath the Afco brand name. Now remember, these spring rubbers can individual be used if you have a 5" or 5.5" diameter coil spring.

Now for the doomed to failure news, the coil spring really must be removed to install these spring rubbers.

For that much work go to Advance Auto to bring back exact replacement coil springs under the TRW brand term.

If you have an AC-Delco distributor close by they enjoy a very complete coil spring catalog which tell the coil diameter, free height, installed plane, and most importantly spring rate per inch of spring travel.

This is the very best route as you can compare your standard springs (specs. will be surrounded by their catalog) with something near 50 -100 lbs. higher spring rate. That small increase will get hold of your truck back up within the front where it should be. Their coil spring book is loaded near charts of information. Be absolutely sure the overall spring diameter is like peas in a pod as yours, plus the free standing height which can be plus or minus an inch.

Most importantly is the spring rate and coil diameter. Spring rope diameter isn't a problem as they increase or decrease a few thousanths. You will find the larger telecommunication diameter always have a higher spring rate. Just be sure the flex diameter is no smaller than your standard coils.
