Head gasket blone while at mechanics. con?

I have recently taken my vehicle to a mechanics and he rang me up to tell me the gasket have blown when he started it the next day after doing repairs on the muffler. I enjoy had no trouble with overheating surrounded by two years nor any indication of a blown head gasket. The car be blowing so much water through the exhaust that it is barely drivable.

Is it possible that mechanic help the gasket blow? Have i been conned?

How do you know if your vehicle...

No . The chief gasket separates the different ports (oil, water, Firing Chamber) from each other between the engine team leader and block.

This is how water got into your firing chamber, and later blown out through the muffler.

The fire chamber port ,burns a gap eventually ,over to another port. thus leaking that port to your firing chamber It is a regular repair.

This can be a serious problem causing engine failure except taken care of.

If the water leak to the oil, it would suck water through your engine bearing and lock up the motor after a short time.

Not only that but the pressure from the firing chamber could over pressurize your hose system blowing a radiator.

He can show you the part replaced and how it works in your engine.
Usually in attendance will be visible leakage on the gasket surface neighbouring the affected ports.
You do not state the vehicle condition or current mileage, so I will assume it is old. No method can installing a muffler cause a headgasket to blow. I suspect poor maintenance on your sector.

sounds like it. but proveing could be problem. headgaskets don't blow that bad unless diven for a long time or thrashed.

Sounds to me close to you have been coned big time. Odds on that arranged i would guesstimate at 1 in 100,000. Go after him to make the repair at his expense but use a different mechanic for the repair. Good Luck

Answers:    The head gasket(s) and exhaust system are two completely different areas of any vehicle. I intuitively fail to see how doing any "repairs" on a muffler would cause a blown boss gasket(s). It would help if you could provide the year, make, model and engine surrounded by your question. Mileage information would help as ably. This way, it could be more easily determined, the probability of such a letdown. Sorry, but it is highly coincidental. Hope this helps.
