I have a 02 Focus ZX5 and my alternator pale comes on while I'm driving and whenever I come to a stop the car will stall because it cant unemployed. I put in a bright alternator and the light still comes on. The headlights and interior lights flicker. I can hear a clicking rumpus everytime the lights flicker too. What could be wrong? I was thinking IAC stopcock, but I don't want to waste money for basically a guess on what's wrong.
Answers: I would think IAC too, but that's not adjectives that comes to mind. Many vehicles own the voltage regulator integrated in the vehicle's computer. If this have gone bad, a brand modern alternator will still not work properly. Your best bet is to either attain a volt meter, a full charging system wiring diagram, and follow the factory determined "Theory and Operation" and "Charging System Test" steps to find the specific problem. Sometimes you'll bring lucky and have it next to an easy read of the stored DTC's, but copious times the DTC's are only symptoms.

It does not say the symptom, but apparently the plug to the alternator have some kind of problem. They are showing it replaced from the generous, small dia. wire plug, I don`t know 4 prong. Anyway, I would take it to autozone or advanced. They will testing the alt for free. If it says discouraging, could be a bad alt out of the box. Had it come about many times. Take it rotten and have it checked alone. Have the battery-operated checked. Advanced will do that too, for free. make sure cable are clean and tight at freestyle. If still no good, filch it somewhere. I wouldn't buy another alternator without knowing what the problem really is.
