i have a 98 elcipse that i bought used about 6 years ago. when i first bought it, the afternoon i got it, it rainned. the following day i notice that the passanger side's floor (front & back) was wet. i brought it pay for to the dealer and they told me that it was because the drainage plugs within the hatch were clogged. they cleaned them out and that was that. over the years its happen a few more time. i've always just shoved a pen or screwdriver contained by there and dug out lots of dirt/pollen whenever it happened or if i happen to be in the trunk and thought of it.
well, begining of december it snowed. i didnt regard as anything of it until about 3 weeks ago i noticed in attendance was a horrible smell in the sports car. after searching (figured it was food honestly) i put my mitt down and the floor was soaked. it was in actuality moldy! i spent 3 hours cleaning the floor. i tried to clean out the plugs but couldnt get them to drain. you stipulation to check the rubber trim on your doors. this trim is for keeping the water out of the car, the drain is in attendance to capture what litt does get through the trim. Have the trim replaced and Now hold the carpet replaced and you should be OK
My minivan has one and the same problem, its in the air duct, if the drain tube get clogged with pine needles or leaves etc.. there is a rush of dampen into the passenger side.My solution is to lay a tarp over the car when the weather gets impossible,if I think to do it in time..otherwise not a hundred percent have to remove the cowl under the windshield to verbs it out.Im just too lazy..
well , here are the ugly facts of what you hold to do, , the seats/carpet,and floor mounted gear selector ( if equipped) will have to come out too to get the runner out, once you have carpet out here will be sound deadener too ( padding ) it will enjoy to be replaced too, then i would drill a couple holes in the lowest slice of the floor panels, there are usually little one bearing rubber valves that let the dampen drain and these do get clogged, bleach the floor too after you get adjectives the bad carpet and filling out, if the seats were raining, toss them too, you could probably get a good operate on a complete interior from a junk yard, or from someone that one privately for public sale that has engine problems, just hold all the parts you need and dispatch the rest to the metal scrap yard
