Help!I put river within my grease.I drove it 200 yds.The mechanic say I involve a up to date engine for $6800, Any relief??

I have a 6 month old Huyndai Santa Fe, It have run great until X-mas Eve, the car began choking and bucking consequently a light that came on. I did not hold my reading glasses, I looked in the guide and thought it was water( I was use to this beside my old Grand Marquis, I had to enjoy water in the trunk to teem up). I poured water into what I thought was the sea tank but it went into the grease, about 6-7 Big cups of water, I drove the vehicle about 200 yds and it stalled. The mechanics said it is not under warrenty, even though at hand WAS something wrong before I did it! I was lower than stress with 2 kids and could not get my father on the phone. We be at a gas station with some strange charactres hanging around. I be under duress and MADE A VERY STUPID MISTAKE! I do not have and cannot acquire that kind of money, does anyone have any awareness of what to do?? Thank You for any HELP!!

I own rubber spigot cover gaskets it...

First of all..if the car be bucking and stalling..the first question is...did it have any grease in it to start with.? It sounds similar to it did. I really don't think that you could have done that much break driving a couple hundred yards...but what I would do..is to drain the oil and marine out of the car. change the filter and consequently refill with grease. Then I would take the car to another mechanic and see what the valid problem was.not really mentioning what had happen.

See what type of response you get then..6800 to amendment out an engine is ridiculously high..and if there be something wrong with the engine to start with, they might a moment ago be able to rebuild it, if that be the case.to me it shoulds like it might enjoy been seizing up earlier the water incident, but it might be something else.

Good luck!
Sorry - you add wet to the oil intake on the engine and you get to buy a spanking new engine. Suggestions that others have made to you about draining the grease and changing it a couple of times might work if you had only gotten a little bit of water within the gas tank. Won't do a thing for you once you've dumped a couple of quarts of sea directly into the engine block.

Hyundai would have had to transport care of the problem if you had not added hose, but once you did it is your problem, not theirs. What might have been wrong earlier could have been as simple as making a minor adjustment or spraying some carburetor cleaner. No channel now to tell anyway.

I'm sorry this happen to you. I've been a single mother under stress near a couple of kids and a crappy car and no money to fix it (which is how I learned almost things like changing engines) but the bottom procession is that every action you take contained by life has consequences and some of them are not fun.

As to the reasonableness of the estimate they give you - I went looking for just a header for my sister's vehicle a few weeks back - a 5 year old American made model - and it run to $1600 just for the part. You necessitate the whole engine, parts for imports are expensive, your sports car is too new for after-market parts to be available and that $6800 includes the labor. Labor to change an engine is not insignificant - you're looking at a nearly adjectives day job for one mechanic or 4 hours + for two - at $100 an hour minimum. IF everything go well. Plus a fee for the engine hoist, etc. And adjectives the minor parts the job requires that are not included in the cost of the engine.

You might stockpile some money by calling around to several other auto repair places (make sure they have experience with Hyundai and engines) but I would not expect to pick up thousands.

You really need to drain the oil at smallest twice.

Drain it once, replace oil, run it for five minutes, drain it again.

Check the oil dipstick to see if you enjoy water droplets on it after the second draining.

While he may have a point if the engine be run too long, you may be able to avoid a new engine by newly trying this.
$6800 seems a little steep. Unfortunatly some mechanics will bear advantage of a women when it comes to cars. I would get a second inference, and as much as I hate to say this, cart your father with you or some other male that might know a bit about vehicles. I know somewhat about cars, and I went to the local mechanic to enjoy my oil changed, he told me that I needed a valve cover gasket, thermastat among a few other things totaling going on for 1500 dollars. I told him I didn't think so, but I will get the money and own it done LOL. Later that day my husband (cars are his hobby) took it to the same mechanic for an grease change, well beside nothing else said the oil be changed and was complimented on how well the coup¨¦ was taken care of. He did not realize that I be outside the door and heard everything he told my husband. I called and told the official the next day, I agree to him know how sexist that was and that the mechanic was trying to clutch advantage of for being a woman, the bureaucrat gave me 6 free oil change (done himself) I made sure that I was able to monitor every move he made so I wouldn't get screwed. Anyway get a secong view, the warranty will not cover the problem anymore. Good luck from been there done that beside 3 kids.

Try draining out the water and put surrounded by fresh OIL! If the metal didn't freeze to other metal parts then it should turn.

Answers:    WRONG! You did not ruin your engine!!
Get another mechanic, there was a problem formerly you added the water. Engines burn water out of them every time you drive, condensation burns out when the engine get up to temperature and burns the excess water past its sell-by date. I admit it doesn't have to burn sour the amount you put in (which was excessive) but I don't chew over he's right at all!!
Change the oil & filter & you should be fine!
By river tank, what did you mean??

I would drain the old grease out, put in new grease and let it run it through for a couple of hours to make sure it comes out and later replace it again.
