Honda exhaust smoke problem.?

Im blowing white smoke out the exhaust everytime the throttle opens.

if there isnt ample oil in the sports car, could it make it do that?

because i know im very low on grease, i dont drive it anywhere, its just a project car. but i only wanted to know if any other things could be the cause of this.

PS- it smells resembling either oil or gas afterwords.

What can you do if you run...

White smoke - could be two things, first if it is for a exceptionally short period of time - it could be water built up surrounded by the tail pipe and catalytic converter. Generally white smoke also indicates burning oil (black smoke gas) - from you description i would say grease. Next, since it is a project car - check you valve stamp - that may be where you are losing your oil. moral luck
your burning oil in ya pistons could be a doomed to failure issue may have to replace ya rings or get some lube sealent its stuff that will rehabilitate ya gaskets liek it go in with your grease may have a blow head gasket

Answers:    White smoke is usually burning water/coolant or too much fuel to burn so it "steams" the fuel out the tail pipe. Since you said it smells approaching gasoline afterwards I would lean to the later, fuel and to much going into the engine. On a Honda the number one reference the computer make as to how rich or lean to make the fuel supply is the cts (coolant temp. sensor) make sure you enjoy plenty of water/coolant in the radiator and engine to be able to touch the sensor so it can procure an accurate engine temp reading. If that is ok, I would change the cts as they are not that expensive and difficult to check for reliability short a proper computer reading scanner. The next most relied on source for air/fuel ratio control by the computer is the o2 (oxygen sensor before the catalytic converter). Others are mass nouns flow sensor (if equipped) and some various other sensors not relied on as great as the previously mentioned. Remember even after you fix the cause of the problem, you will probally enjoy some white smoke due to the residual left in the exhaust system which will hold to burn itself out eventually.
