I have an 87 celebrity Eurosport steering column surrounded by my 84 Chevy Citation X-11.. all appropriate mods were done to the electrical system to make it compatible. When I first installed it my horn came on and stayed on.. pressing the horn button made it shut sour..releasing the button caused the horn to sound again. The horn later suddenly stopped coming on. I discovered I had the wrong horn relay installed. After installing the correct relay I cant get the horn to work unless I run a ground to the ground chain on the relay itself.. What gives? Did I blow the horn switch or ? Does anyone have any planning? I have traced my wiring to craft sure I hadnt fried anything and it all appears fine. horns themselves still work.. just hold to ground out my relay wire to get them to come on. Is nearby an actual horn switch in the column? If so.. can it be replaced?

You need to put an old global horn button on the side of the steering column like they use to have on the outmoded Willis jeeps. that is pretty much what I can tell you. Go
down to the auto segment house and ask them for a universal horn button and they will know what you will need.
Answers: It sounds like the horn switch does not ground the circuit. When you put the horn switch back together did you remember to hook the little black cable back up? What I would do is get a push button switch from a parts store and mount it somewhere on my crash. Then run the ground wire (from regulator) to the switch and from there to a ground. It should work. In my feelings horns are a waste of time anyway. All they do is piss people sour. An after thought: Since the horn & switch worked with the wrong relay you can assume that they are OK. You wouldn't have burned it out of late because of the wrong relay. That wrong relay was probably a NC (Normally Closed) and you need an NO (Normally Open) relay. Shouldn't enjoy hurt anything.
